Meet the Optometrist
Dr. Brooks Grant
A native West Texan, Dr. Grant was born in Lubbock and lived in the small town of Ralls during his early childhood. He later attended Eastland High School, and graduated in the top of his class at Pottsboro High School in 1998. Looking to become the next big “Rock Star” (Dr. G is an avid guitar “picker”, thanks to his Granddad’s influence), he graduated with an Associates degree in Sound Technology from South Plains College in Levelland, Tx in 2000.
After working a few years as a recording studio engineer, he decided to pursue the field of Optometry where he would not only be able to help people achieve a better quality of life, but could do so using the latest technology and instrumentation that he loved in his previous field. He returned to school at Lubbock Christian University where he completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. Soon after, Dr. Grant ventured to Houston where he graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2010. Since graduation, he has worked at Texas State Optical in San Marcos, TX, where he has gained valuable experience in patient care and management. Dr. Grant is a current member of the American Optometric Association and Texas Optometric Association and strives to always stay current in modern optometry and vision care.
Dr. Grant is married to his college sweetheart, Kennah, and they are blessed with two beautiful girls; Presleigh and Emery. In May 2012, they relocated to Abilene, Tx to be closer to family, and Dr. Grant began his venture into private practice optometry. Outside of the practice, he enjoys playing guitar, jogging, playing with Presleigh and Emery, and spending time with family and friends. He is also an active member of Wylie Baptist Church. You can usually hear him playing guitar or drums every Sunday morning. He is already trying to get his girls started on guitar!
Dr. Grant is excited to be back in the Big Country and looks forward to meeting your eye care and vision needs.
